A view of the event

The hybrid-format conference connected 21 locations nationwide and gathered over 700 specialized cadres from the Border Guard, Navy, Coast Guard forces, sub-departments of fisheries, and fisheries surveillance agencies in coastal provinces and cities.

In his opening remarks, a representative from the  Organizing Committee said that the event aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to operate a unified vessel management system, enabling effective monitoring of fishing activities and enhancing inter-agency data sharing. This supports the modernization of national fisheries management and the goal of combating IUU fishing.

At the event, participants were introduced to the system's overview and functions, with training focused on how to integrate and synchronize data from the Directorate of Fisheries and Fisheries Control; cross-check and synchronize data with the national population database; and monitor, warn, and share data to support both offshore and onshore fishing operations.

According to Col. Trien, Viettel has completed national database integration to help monitor and manage fishing vessels and combat IUU fishing. A unified platform for vessel management is a key and urgent task to prevent IUU fishing and to work toward having the E.C.’s “yellow card” removed.

Using a unified platform will help reduce manual data entry and streamline searching and reporting, improving the effectiveness of command, inspection, monitoring, and enforcement at sea, the Viettel official said.

He also called on Viettel branches nationwide to work closely with relevant units to provide access accounts for the conference’s participants and ensure smooth system operation. He added that Viettel will add automatic warning and messaging features, and MND’s command applications to help forces coordinate timely responses at sea.

Viettel is committed to providing technical infrastructure, computers, internet connections, and software, ensuring all cadres can proficiently operate the system. This is a modern, comprehensive solution to manage and monitor fishing vessels to effectively prevent IUU fishing.
