The navy receives special gift from Hanoi
PANO - Chairwoman of the Hanoi chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Lan Huong handed over VND 38 billion from the city’s “For Vietnamese seas and islands fund 2020” to the Naval Service in a ceremony on July 2 in Hai Phong city.
The Navy will spend the money in building a hall of fame in Truong Sa island district with the aim of improving cultural lives of troops and islanders.
In her speech, Ms. Huong said that Hanoi’s political organizations and people have always conducted practical activities for the beloved Truong Sa and for national sovereignty over seas and islands.
Since last year, the city has sent various delegations to visit troops and people in Truong Sa island district. It has also raised over VND 380 billion to give financial assistance to and buy equipment for troops and islanders on islands and DK1 platforms.
The gift demonstrates deep sentiment and high sense of responsibility of the troops and people of Hanoi for those in the island district, said Huong, and hoped that the troops and people will fulfil their missions of defending the national maritime sovereignty and troops will effectively support fishermen in fishing offshore in the traditional fishing grounds of the country.
For his part, Rear Admiral Phan Van Quang, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy thanked the municipal Party Committee, authorities, troops and people for the significant present and highly valued the city’s continuous activities for national seas and islands.
