Supports for border and island people reviewed
PANO – On September 21, a delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), led by its President Tran Thanh Man, had a meeting with the Vietnam People’s Navy Command.
Addressing the meeting, Major General Tran Hoai Trung, Political Commissar of the Naval Command, observed that the whole political system, the central and local agencies have disseminated information to the community and raised funds for islanders and troops on Truong Sa Archipelago in response to the VFFCC’s call. Likewise, the Naval Command collaborated well with the VFFCC to raise the public’s awareness on the importance to the national construction and defense cause of the seas and islands. Since 2010, individuals and groups at home and abroad have voluntarily donated over VND 1,000 billion to repair 40 constructions, manufacture 50 different boats, and buy necessities for Truong Sa islanders and troops as well as DK1 Platforms’ staff. These activities helped islanders and troops to stabilize their lives and maintain the fishing areas, contributing to firmly safeguarding the national sovereignty over sea and islands.
The VFFCC’s Standing Board and the Naval Command agreed to boost information dissemination on the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies, promote collaboration in implementing the “Whole people join hands to build new-style rural and civilized urban areas” campaign, as well as conduct the VFFCC’s people-to-people external affairs.
The two sides also selected May 7 as the day for raising the fund for the beloved Truong Sa” across the country annually.
