Soc Trang border guards launch protective forest planting program
PANO - On May 13, in Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province, the Soc Trang provincial Border Guard Command’s Youth Union organization, in coordination with provincial functional organs, held a launching ceremony for coastal protective forest planting, in celebration of President Ho Chi Minh’s 133rd birthday (May 19, 1890 - 2023) and in response to the “For a green Vietnam” program.
During the event, the organizing board received 2,000 seedlings from sponsors and presented 30 gifts to needy households, 50 scholarships, worth VND 300,000 each, and five bicycles to needy students in the coastal area of Vinh Chau town.

After the launching ceremony, nearly 200 youths and locals planted 2,000 avicennia marina trees with an area of one hectare on the coast in Ward 1, Vinh Chau town.

The planting of the protective forest has been held by youths in Soc Trang province for many years. This is a practical activity in response to climate change, contributing to raising public awareness of forest protection in Vinh Chau town.
