Central Quang Ngai province will use nearly 30 billion VND (1.4 million USD) to plant more than 1,400 hectares of riverhead protective forest in the locality.
The fund, provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be used in the four districts of Tay Tra, Son Ha, Son Tay and Ba To to restore and conserve biodiversity, improve the livelihood of the local community and support poverty reduction in the mountainous areas.
It also aims to improve the capacity of local authorities and forest owners in sustainably manage and protect the protective forest.
This is part of a project to recover and sustainably manage protective forest, using an official development assistance (ODA) loan from the Japanese government.
The project, running from 2012 to 2020, has total investment of nearly 290 billion VND (13.6 million USD). Of this figure, 250 billion VND (11.7 million USD) is an ODA loan, the remainder comes from the province’s reciprocal capital.
