The Sene Dolta festival of the Khmer people in Southern Vietnam holds important significance in honoring and remembering the ancestors. Every year, during the festival, troops of the Lai Hoa Border Post actively coordinate with local authorities to organize activities while supporting needy Khmer ethnic minority people in the area.

Handing over gifts to needy households

During this year’s Sene Dolta festival, the border post held various activities, including a traditional cake-making contest for needy households, traditional Khmer cultural performances, and the “Zero-VND Stall” program, where cakes and 100 gifts (including food and necessities) were distributed to poor households. They also provided free health check-ups and medicines for those in need.

Lai Hoa Border Post is tasked with managing and protecting national sovereignty and border security of the coastal border in Lai Hoa and Vinh Tan communes, Vinh Chau town. This is home to 77.7% Khmer ethnic minority people and 7.7% Hoa ethnic minority people.

Since 2023, the unit has provided free health check-ups and medicines to over 3,200 people, worth more than VND 672 million. They have also mobilized nearly 2,500 officers and soldiers to help locals harvest crops, and presented two breeding cows and over 1,000 ducks to needy households to help them develop economy.
