Military troops actively help natural disaster-hit victims
PANO – Three hundred and twenty people, including 135 troops, were mobilized to help local people in Vinh Son commune, Song Cong city, and Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province, overcome natural disaster consequences on April 15, announced the Department for Search and Rescue of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Earlier, hailstones accompanied by whirlwinds poured down on Vinh Son commune and Dai Tu district, destroying 37ha of crops and ripping off roofs of 26 houses.
On the same day, landslides along the Cai San River bank in Vinh Trinh commune, Vinh Thach district, Can Tho city, submerged five houses.
Twenty-six militiamen cooperated with local people to help the victims overcome consequences of the landslides.
Meanwhile, on April 14, heavy downpours and tornadoes unroofed seven houses in Ia Nan commune, Duc Co district, Gia Lai province. The local authorities mobilized forces to support locals in tackling the consequences of the natural disasters.
