One of the highlights is the movement to eliminate temporary housing. The houses have not only helped people settle down and improve their economy but also contributed to deepening the military-civilian solidarity and consolidating the whole-people border defense posture.

Xong Ga Po, aged nearly 70, lives alone in a temporary house in Huoi Son village (Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province). Learning about his situation, Tam Hop Border Station under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command collaborated with units and benefactors to provide his family with financial support of VND 50 million, while mobilizing officers, soldiers, and local youth to contribute their working days during the construction of the house.

Similarly, Va Chong Lau, aged 60 from Nhon Mai village, Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district, is elderly and whose economy relies on her farm, was also assisted by Nhon Mai Border Station and local authorities to build a new house.

According to Colonel Phan Thanh Hong, Commanding Officer of Nhon Mai Border Station, there are still many poor households facing housing difficulties in the locality. The support of all levels and sectors has helped poor families realize their dream of having a solid home to focus on production.

Recently, Tam Quang Border Station, the local authority of Tam Quang commune, and benefactors jointly inaugurated the construction of a house for Vi Cong Oanh, born in 1956 from Tan Huong village, Tam Quang commune. The house is expected to be completed and put into use in May this year.

Nghe An has 27 border communes, where the living conditions are still very difficult, and many families live in temporary houses. With the determination to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command has closely coordinated with local authorities to mobilize organizations, individuals, and benefactors to provide financial support. Meanwhile, the province’s border guards have also contributed their working days during the construction of the houses.

Senior Colonel Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Political Commissar of the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command, shared that supporting housing construction has not only improved the living standards of local people but also demonstrated the responsibility and sentiments of border troops towards people in border areas. In 2024 alone, the province’s border guards built 349 new houses and repaired 374 houses. Additionally, troops contributed over 2,000 working days to repair and build the foundations for 901 houses in the six border districts.
