Ho Chi Minh City Military Command honors partners in COVID-19 fight
PANO - The Party Committee and Chain-of Command of Ho Chi Minh City Military Command held a meeting on November 26 to honor 89 outstanding collectives and 18 individuals who have stood side by side with the command in assisting locals in controlling COVID-19.
The event was chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, the command’s chief and Major General Phan Van Xung, its Political Commissar.
In the fourth COVID-19 outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal military command has actively given recommendations to the Party Committee and Chain-of-command of Military Region 7 and the municipal Party and People’s Committees to lead, direct, and implement disease prevention measures in a comprehensive, synchronous, drastic, and effective manner.
The command has also suggested the building and issuance of operation regulations of city-run concentrated quarantine facilities and hospitals for COVID-19 patients, the establishment of a command post on COVID-19 prevention and control at the municipal People’s Committee, and 13 groups of response solutions.
So far, over 36,200 troops of the municipal armed forces have surmounted difficulties, hardships, risks to serve at 101 hospitals for COVID-19 patients, 67 concentrated quarantine areas. They have also guarded, patrolled at hundreds of COVID-19 checkpoints across the city. Additionally, they have handed over more than 2 million welfare bags, over 15,000 tons of goods, and tens of thousand of gifts to locals.
