Speaking at the event, GDT Political Commissar Lieutenant General Tran Duy Hung shared that since 2015, the GDT has given free medical examinations, health counseling and medicines to tens of thousands of people; invested in upgrading medical stations and provided medical supplies for localities; and conducted activities for policy beneficiaries and local people, among others.

During the two-day program, GDT medical staff coordinated with local medical force to offer health check-ups and medicines to 550 people. Meanwhile, they instructed local people how to prevent and control several infectious and chronic diseases as well as keep a healthy lifestyle to protect their health.

On the occasion, the GDT presented 84 gifts, worth more than VND 40 million, to policy beneficiaries and poor families in Phuong Lau commune.

Lt. Gen. Hung also required local authorities and organizations to closely coordinate with military units stationed in localities to well implement the Party and State’s policies on enhancing the protection, care and improvement of people’s health. Military medical officers and local medical staff should promote information exchange and actively provide examinations and treatment for local people.

These activities contributed to tightening military-civilian solidarity, promoting the “When drinking water, remember its source” national tradition, beautifying the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, and building a strong local political system and a healthy cultural environment.
