Born and raised in Hai An ward, Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa province, Cuong has a deep love for remote areas and areas with difficult conditions. In 2022, after graduating from the Military Medical University, he worked at Military Hospital 268, Military Region 4. Upon learning about the opportunity to work in border areas, he didn’t hesitate to volunteer. In early 2024, he was officially assigned to the military-civilian medical clinic under Defense-Economic Unit 92. Since then, his life has been linked to remote villages, misty roads, and the hopeful eyes of ethnic minority people.

Cuong is always aware of his role and responsibility as a doctor, applying his expertise to serve local people. Cuong shared that local people lack many things. They have to walk tens of kilometers to reach the medical clinic. Some people suffer from serious illnesses, but they can’t afford to visit the doctor.

During his work in border areas, Cuong never forgets the moment that at 20:55 on August 5, 2024, during a patrol, he found a three-day-old baby named Ho Hoang Quang Phuc abandoned on A Roang bridge in A Roang commune in a critical condition with a cyanosis and an omphalitis. He quickly provided first aid and transferred the baby to A Luoi district Medical Center.

On November 24, 2024, when a heavy storm caused landslides, burying the house of Tran Van Khua and A Ho in Lien Hiep village, Lam Dot commune, Cuong and his teammates bravely waded through the mud to assist the family.

The military-civilian medical clinic is in A So and A Luoi Defense-Economic Areas which cover four communes, namely Lam Dot, A Roang, Dong Son, Huong Phong. These communes are difficult sparsely populated areas. The transportation is difficult. Every day, Cuong and medical staff from Defense-Economic Unit 92 conduct dissemination activities to encourage local people to strictly observe the Party’s policies and guidelines, the state’s laws, and local regulations, as well as eliminate backward customs. Meanwhile, they provide medical examinations and care for local people, leaving a deep positive impression on people in border areas.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Hoang, Head of the military-civilian medical clinic of Defense-Economic Unit 92, Captain Luong Le Cuong is a young doctor with good qualities and expertise. In his work, he has promoted his role as a young, pioneering, and exemplary officer, willing to overcome difficulties to provide health check-ups and treatment for people in border areas, contributing to beautifying the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in people’s hearts.

In remote villages, doctor Luong Le Cuong quietly continues his journey as a military doctor with a warm heart and a spirit of resilience. Therefore, local people call him “The doctor of the village,” “Our Brother.”
