Defense minister visits and pays tribute to former defense leaders
PANO – On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2022), Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang visited and presented gifts to former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on July 17.
In a cozy atmosphere, General Giang inquired after the former defense leaders, including former defense ministers General Pham Van Tra and General Ngo Xuan Lich; and former National Assembly Deputy Chairman Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy.

General Giang also informed the former leaders on the task performance of the whole military in the first six months of 2022, especially in training and combat readiness work. Accordingly, the military has promoted its pioneering role in the cause of national construction and defense, deserving the trust of the people, Party, State and local authorities.

He also noted them on the major tasks of the military in the coming time, hoping that Generals Pham Van Tra, Ngo Xuan Lich and Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy would continue contributing to the construction of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).

On this occasion, General Giang presented gifts of the Central Military Commission and MND to the former defense leaders, wishing them good health and happiness.

On the same day, General Giang also offered incense to pay tribute to former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, who was also former head of the VPA' General Department of Political Affairs; former State President and former Defense Minister General Le Duc Anh; former defense ministers Generals Vo Nguyen Giap, Van Tien Dung, Doan Khue, and Phung Quang Thanh; and former Deputy Defense Minister General Le Trong Tan.

Offering incense in commemoration of the defense leaders’ great contribution to the Party’s revolutionary cause and the VPA’s construction, General Giang inquired after their families and hoped that they would promote their traditions, contributing to the development of the country and the military.
