Protecting people’s lives above all
On the evening of November 2, facing the threat of a mountain landslide that could endanger hundreds of residents in Voong hamlet, Hung Son commune, Tr’hy Border Post under the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command advised local Party committees and authorities to urgently evacuate people overnight. According to Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Thu, the border post’s Political Commissar, two teams with 23 officers and soldiers coordinated with local forces to relocate 32 households with 125 residents to safety at Tr’hy Primary School.
Thirty-three-year-old villager Blao from Voong hamlet said that despite the heavy rain and strong winds, border guard officers and soldiers overcame hardships to help locals relocate and set up safe accommodations.

According to Nguyen Van Ky, Deputy Head of the Civil Defense Command of Hung Son commune, since October 25, continuous heavy rain has caused landslides along all local roads and slopes. To protect people’s lives, authorities have moved 86 households with 366 residents to safe locations.
On the morning of November 3, serious flooding submerged many areas in Hoa Khanh ward in Da Nang City, posing threats to the elderly and children. In response, Hai Van Border Post mobilized 20 officers and soldiers to work with Regiment 971 of the Da Nang Municipal Military Command and other forces to evacuate 178 people to higher ground.

According to the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command, over recent days, the force has deployed 190 teams with 1,431 officers and soldiers and 402 vehicles to assist localities. They have helped relocate and evacuate 1,681 households with 4,750 residents from flooded zones and 102 households with 385 residents from landslide-prone areas to safe shelters.
Ensuring no one left hungry or cold
Following the motto “Leave no one hungry or cold,” the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command and its units have not only protected lives and property, but also delivered essential supplies to flood-stricken and isolated communities.
Senior Colonel Hoang Van Man, Political Commissar of the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command, said that 165 officers and soldiers were deployed to transport three tons of food and necessities, including rice, sticky rice, bread, cooking oil, bottled water and 3,425 gift packages, including instant noodles, canned meat, milk, dried rations, canned fish, bread, bottled water each, and 2,000 “banh chung” (square glutinous rice cake) to residents in isolated communes and wards including Dien Ban Dong, Thang An, Thang Truong, Hoi An Tay, Dai Loc, and Ban Thach, with a total value of nearly VND 1.4 billion.
In coordination with charitable groups, the command has maintained a community kitchen in Dien Ban Dong ward, preparing 8,000 meals for patients in hospitals affected by flooding, worth more than VND 300 million.

Understanding the difficulties faced by flood-hit communities, units including the Border Post of Da Nang Border Port, Ga Ry Border Post, Nam Giang International Border Gate, A Nong, and Binh Minh Border Posts mobilized donors to contribute 6,240 relief packages, worth over VND 2 billion, and provided medical check-ups and medicines for 145 residents in Tay Giang commune.
After floodwaters receded, the city’s border guard force deployed 89 teams with 796 officers and soldiers to clean up homes, inter-village roads, schools, and local government offices, helping residents restore normal life as quickly as possible.
