Coast guard ship rescues troubled trawler at sea
PANO – Ship CSB 6001 from Squadron 211 under Flotilla 21 under the Coast Guard Region 2 Command successfully towed a troubled trawler numbered KG 92855 TS to the port of the Fishery Inspection Station No.2 (Vung Tau city) on September 28.
Previously, the trawler, captained by Nguyen Van Thi from An Hoa commune, Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province, went adrift due to engine failure about 85 nautical miles Southwest of Hon Khoai Island (Ca Mau province).
After receiving the mayday signal, the command ordered Ship CSB 6001 performing her duty in the waters at the Vietnam - Malaysia maritime border to move to the scene for a rescue mission.
In spite of the harsh weather condition, the rescue ship approached the drifting trawler and towed it with all crew-members on board to Vung Tau city.
The ship then handed over the vessel and crew-members to the Vung Tau provincial Border Guard Command.
