Coast guard ship rescues troubled trawler
PANO – Ship CSB 2006 of Coast Guard Region 1 successfully rescued trawler QB 92133 TS and its crew-members caught in trouble at sea. The boat and fishermen were then handed over to the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command in the waters near the island of Hon Ngu on April 15.

Previously, on April 13, boat QB 92133 TS went adrift at 18049’N - 106049’E (approximately 60 nautical miles offshore) due to main engine failure while in rough seas and strong winds. Nguyen Van Diep, owner of the boat, born in 1978, a native of Thanh Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, together with five fellow crewmen, sent out a mayday signal.
At 11:15 pm the same day, Coast Guard Region 1 received the mayday signal and immediately sent Ship CSB 2006 to the rescue. Reaching the scene at 8:30am on April 14, Ship CSB 2006 successfully towed the troubled trawler to Hon Ngu Island and handed it over to the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command.
Ship BP 06-13-01 of the Nghe An provincial Border Guard’s Flotilla 2 then safely towed the distressed boat with the six troubled fishermen on board to the unit’s port on April 15.
