During the event, the command’s orators updated fishermen in localities on information related to the Vietnam Coast Guard Law in 2018, Fisheries Law in 2017, and documents related to legal fishing at sea and IUU fishing.

Meanwhile, the local law enforcement force was trained in conducting patrol, checking and consolidating records and evidence about IUU fishing, as well as applying legal documents to handle violations, among others.

During the program, the organizing panel also received many questions from local fishermen. The questions were mostly about the list of exploitable aquatic products; IUU fishing regulations and its sanction and penalties; and final itinerary, to name but a few.

To Van Trong, owner of a fishing boat in Tran Dien district, shared that this was a meaningful activity. It gave him a better understanding of the removal of the yellow card imposed by the European Commission (E.C.) on Vietnamese seafood.

He promised to further disseminate information about IUU fishing prevention to boost sustainable development of the fisheries sector.

On the occasion, the Coast Guard 4 Command presented 30 gift packages, consisting of money in cash, medical bags, national flags and Uncle Ho portraits, to fishermen in Tran Dien district.
