Accordingly, the program aimed to encourage fishermen to keep fishing at sea, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands.

During the program, officers of the Coast Guard Region 2 updated local fishermen with information related to the Vietnam Coast Guard Law in 2018, Fisheries Law in 2017, and documents related to legal fishing at sea and IUU fishing.

Senior Colonel Tran Hong Que delivers a speech at the event.

According to Senior Colonel Tran Hong Que, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, over the past time, the command has paid close attention to law dissemination to raise awareness of fishermen, ship owners and captains, fishing port managers, etc. about the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and law regarding sea, islands, and fishing activities at sea.

The Coast Guard Region 2 Command and the Da Nang municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization present gifts to needy fishermen.

These activities help local fishermen strictly comply with laws and regulations while fishing at sea, especially not infringing on foreign waters, contributing to the efforts to remove the yellow card imposed by the European Commission (E.C.) on Vietnamese seafood.

On the occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presented 50 gift packages, worth VND 1 million each, to needy fishermen affected by the flood in October 2022, and handed over 300 national flags to local fishermen.

The Coast Guard Region 2 Command and Son Tra district hand over gifts to fishermen.

The gifts showed the sentiments of coast guard troops toward local people, affirming that the coast guard force would stand side by side with local authorities to prevent IUU fishing and achieve the goals of socio-economic developments associated with national defense and security assurance in the new situation.
