Raising fishermen’s awareness of law over sea and islands
In order to encourage fishermen to operate at sea, annually, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, in coordination with provincial authorities and units stationed in the province, build plans to organize many programs to disseminate information, raise people’s patriotism, and equip them with laws and regulations on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

To implement law dissemination work in Da Nang city and Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Quang Tri provinces, the unit and relevant forces have distributed leaflets, presented national flags, handed over gifts to fishermen, in combination with sharing information... It has also launched a program themed “I love national sea and islands” at secondary schools.
Accordingly, since the beginning of 2023, the Coast Guard Region 2 has worked with the local authorities to disseminate laws to more than 6,000 people, offered medicine bags, and distributed 5,500 Coast Guard Law books to the local residents, among others.
Accompanying fishermen
For years, in addition to accompanying fishermen, the Coast Guard Region 2 has also implemented many social security activities to reduce poverty in remote and mountainous areas in the Central provinces.
Reportedly, in 2023, the unit worked with local authorities to effectively implement the “Coast Guards accompanying fishermen” and “Coast Guards accompanying ethnic and minority people” programs. It also handed over 3,760 gifts, and nine gratitude houses to policy households and fishermen as well as needy ethnic people, totally worth more than VND 6.5 billion.
