The Navy Region 4 Command hands over the decision "Naval troops sponsor children of fishermen" to the children.

Knowing this situation, Naval Region 3 sponsored Chinh with the monthly financial support of VND 500,000. In addition, the region provided him with books, notebooks, school supplies, clothes and other necessities so that he could continue to go to school. Chinh touchingly thanked the naval troops for their help and promised to study hard to become a solider of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Similarly, the family of Nguyen Thanh Phuc on Tri Nguyen Island, Vinh Nguyen ward, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province also faced extremely difficult conditions. Phuc's parents are poor fishermen on the island. After giving birth to Phuc, her mother lost her sight, leading to blindness in both eyes. Then his father left home. After finishing the 9th grade, Phuc dropped out of the school.

Implementing the program “Naval troops sponsor children of fishermen,” the Vietnam Naval Academy granted books and necessities to Phuc and sponsored him with school fee and medical care expenses. Thanks to the academy’s support, Phuc continued his schooling.

Chinh and Phuc are two of many children of needy fishermen receiving support from the Naval Service’s units through the program “Naval troops sponsor children of fishermen.” Since 2022, naval troops have been sponsoring 159 children until they are 18 years old.

According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Bong, Political Commissar of the Naval Service, supporting children of needy fishermen is a meaningful activity. This activity not only helps turn children’s dream of going to school to reality, but also contributes to the community’s joint efforts to leave no fishermen behind, thereby helping them feel secure to reach out to the sea, firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands.
