Making “banh chung” at the program

The event was attended by Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Tuyen, Deputy Commanding Officer of the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command.

During the program, the organizers distributed 1,000 “banh chung” (traditional square glutinous rice cakes) to disadvantaged residents of the commune. Additionally, 14 scholarships worth VND 500,000 each were given to underprivileged students, while 286 gift sets, each valued at VND 400,000, were provided to policy beneficiary families and impoverished households in the area.

Serepok Border Guard Station also coordinated with local authorities to organize various cultural and recreational activities, including cultural exchanges, campfire celebrations, “banh chung” making contests, tug-of-war competitions, stick pushing, sack races, and free haircuts.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Tuyen remarked that this is the eighth year the "Border spring warms villagers’ hearts" program has been held in the province's four border communes. The program aims to support border residents during Tet (lunar New Year) festival and demonstrate the care of border guard soldiers toward the ethnic communities in border areas, contributing to the construction, management, and protection of national borders.
