The unit is stationed deep in the majestic Truong Son mountain range, where border villages still face many hardships and have limited access to legal information.

On an early autumn morning, the schoolyard of Huong Phung High School in the commune of the same name, Quang Tri province was lively with more than 300 students and teachers attending a dissemination session on the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety. The session was jointly organized by Unit 337’s personnel, Youth Union Organization and Women’s Association chapters, in coordination with the commune public security force, and the school.

At the event, the unit’s staff directly guided students on safe cycling, wearing standard helmets, and avoiding common violations. They also warned against underage driving of large motorcycles. In a conversation, student Ho Van Duan shared, “The troops’ lessons were vivid and easy to understand. I’ll remind my friends and family to observe traffic laws.”

In Xa Dung village, Huong Lap commune, legal education took a more engaging form. Short plays staged by Unit 337’s personnel, filled with humor and relatable stories, conveyed clear messages of staying away from drugs and social evils, raising awareness of cyber security, and strictly following the Law on Military Service.

Ho Van My from Cu Bai village, Huong Lap commune, said, “The soldiers explain things clearly and with pictures, so we remember easily. I’ll remind everyone, especially youths, to obey the law and stay out of drugs and other social evils.”

After play performances, the unit’s staff, local Party committees, authorities and residents discussed practical measures for implementation. Vice Chairwoman of Huong Lap Commune People’s Committee Ho Thi Ven noted that “Thanks to the soldiers’ creative dissemination methods, people now better understand and voluntarily comply with the law. We’ll continue directing the expansion of this effective model to maintain order security in border areas.”

A distinctive feature of Unit 337’s approach is linking legal education with socio-economic development and social welfare activities. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan, Head of Regiment 52 under Unit 337, said, “We help locals with seedlings, livestock, and farming techniques, while supporting disadvantaged students. Once life improves, families can pay for their children’s schooling, and awareness of the law is naturally raised. That is the most sustainable and effective form of dissemination.”

According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Thai Tien, Head of Division of Political Affairs under Unit 337, the unit regularly cooperates with local Party committees, authorities and schools to hold legal dissemination sessions covering key laws such as those on Military Service, National Borders, Cyber security, Road Traffic Order and Safety, Drug Prevention and Control, Marriage and Family, and Land. Thousands of residents and students have participated. Each session is carefully prepared, closely linked to local realities, making legal knowledge easy to understand and apply. The sessions are opportunities to listen to residents’ concerns and help address challenges, strengthening military-civilian solidarity.

He affirmed that legal education and dissemination is a vital political task. Therefore, the unit will continue promoting effectiveness of the mobile law dissemination teams and other groups, and expanding the program in remote hamlets to spread awareness more widely.

Through these efforts, Unit 337’s legal education programs have brought positive changes in the border communities of Western Quang Tri. Students are more mindful of traffic rules; villagers unite to combat drugs and social evils, use social media responsibly, and obey the law. These practical actions have further enhanced the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers of Unit 337, contributing to political stability and social order in the border areas.
