In the second month of 2023, the General Staff directed the whole military to well complete assigned missions. Particularly, the whole military has strictly maintained combat readiness and strictly followed situational development and made recommendations to deal with circumstances in a timely and effective manner, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty. 

Agencies and units have well coordinated to firmly maintain public security in localities across the country and at important events of the Party, State, and military.

Together with preparing the Politburo’s report on strengthening defense potential in combination with socio-economic development in key areas, the General Staff has completed the plan on checking agencies and units’ organization of exercises on shifting the combat readiness posture.

All units in the military have strictly observed regulations, State law, and military discipline, ensure traffic safety, and completed the preparation for training of recruits. Military units and localities have completed the handover of enlisted youths while ensuring absolute safety.

The military has promptly mobilized forces and vehicles to participate in natural disasters response, search and rescue in localities; sent a mission to assist Turkey in searching and rescuing earthquake victims.

Concluding the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong praised the outstanding outcomes obtained by the whole military and the General Staff over the past years.

To successfully complete the military and defense tasks in March and the time to come, the Chief of the General Staff requested the whole military to continue to strictly maintain the combat readiness regulations; closely follow the developments of situation, especially in key areas; strengthen patrol to prevent illegal entry and exit in border areas; foster dissemination to prevent foreign ships from encroaching on Vietnam’s waters and protect the safety of marine economic activities; step up measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. 

Along with coordinating to well perform combat readiness missions in key waters, forces need to closely monitor and promptly prevent foreign encroachment on Vietnam's sovereignty and territory; supervise activities on the cyberspace to promptly prevent and remove malicious posts misrepresenting the Party, State, and military; ensure absolute safety of networks of military computers. 

Together with completing the Defense Ministry’s plan on actualizing the Central Military Commission’s Resolution on raising the quality of training in the 2023-2030 period and the years to come, the Chief of the General Staff asked agencies and units to strictly observe regulations, State Laws, and military discipline; complete a project on raising the effectiveness of the activities of the mobile militia force to meet task requirements in the new period and a plan to review the implementation of models in border areas.

An overview of the conference 

Regarding external defense relations and U.N. peacekeeping operations, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong directed agencies and units to closely grasp and well manage military forces performing peacekeeping tasks in U.N. missions. He also emphasized the need to foster cooperation with international organizations in providing professional training for the Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 5 and the second Engineering Company and effectively carry out policies for forces participating in these activities.
