At the signing ceremony on December 16

Their officials signed an agreement on the issue at a meeting in the southern province of Vietnam on December 16.

Accordingly, the four provinces will continue exchanging information about drug-related crimes and enhancing cooperation between their drug control forces in investigating and fighting drug trafficking rings.

They will also direct their subordinate localities along the borderline to convene meetings every six months between districts and every quarter between communes.

The sides agreed to work with relevant agencies to step up educating local people about adhering to each country’s law and customs. They are going to work closer to swiftly handle emerging issues and create favorable conditions for drug prevention and control activities.

In recent years, relevant forces of Tay Ninh and the Cambodian provinces have maintained regular meetings, promptly exchanged information and discussed cooperation measures to combat drug crimes.

From 2014 to September 2016, Tay Ninh’s authorized forces uncovered and took legal proceedings against 41 cross-border drug trafficking cases and 77 suspects involved. They seized more than 30.4kg of heroin and 2,653 synthetic drug pills.
