Vietnam promotes cooperation in preventing illegal border crossings
PANO – Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, on May 12, chaired a meeting in Hanoi on strengthening cooperation between Vietnam and neighboring countries in border management and protection to prevent illegal border crossings.
During the meeting, representatives of relevant agencies and units briefed General Chien on their task performances in implementing exchange activities, promoting border cooperation, preventing illegal entry and exit, undertaking COVID-19 prevention and control missions in the shared border areas between Vietnam and neighboring countries.

Concluding the meeting, General Chien requested them to enhance organizing exchange programs and proactively coordinate with the neighboring countries’ border guard forces to follow situations and share information, contributing to raising the effectiveness of border management and protection, illegal entry and exit prevention, as well as COVID-19 control.
Also, General Chien asked the Vietnam Border Guard Command, in association with local authorities and relevant forces, to tackle illegal entry into Vietnam while fostering information dissemination among local people to detect border crossings.
Moreover, they should provide more supplies for military forces working on the front-line in the fight against illegal border crossings.
