Vietnam People’s Army high-ranking political officers visit Laos

PANO – Senior Lieutenant-General Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army, led a high-ranking military delegation to pay a visit to Laos under the cooperation agreement between the two nations’ Ministries of Defence and at the invitation of leaders of the Lao General Department of Politics.
At the reception in Luang Prabang province, Lieutenant-General Sengneun Saynhalath, Director of the Lao General Department of Politics cum Deputy Minister of Defence, warmly welcomed the Vietnamese delegation.
The two sides reviewed the international and regional situations and the two countries’ socio-economic development, as well as the results of their defence, Party and political work cooperation since 2012, making contributions to enhancing solidarity, cooperation and mutual assistance between the two armies.
In addition, the two General Departments of Politics also agreed on increasing coordination in searching for and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military experts who died in battles in Laos.
In the coming time, they will work together to hold activities on the 65th and 70th anniversaries of the foundation days of the Vietnam and Laos People’s Armies, respectively; speed up dissemination of tradition to the two armies’ young officers and education and training; exchange visits in the press as well as promote links between army units stationed along the border.
Beside, the Vietnamese delegation also paid a courtesy call to Governor of Luang Prabang Khampheng Saysompheng and toured the Combined Arms Service Enterprise of the Lao People’s Army in Luang Prabang.
Their visits contributed to heightening the traditional relations between the two countries’ people and armies.
