PANO - The State President’s Office, the Ministry of National Defence’s Organs and relevant agencies on October 5th organized a ceremony to announce the decisions on promoting Senior Lieutenant Generals Ngo Xuan Lich, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC), permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), and Do Ba Ty, PCC member, VPA’s Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defence to Generals.

Attending the ceremony were State President Truong Tan Sang, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan, Minister of National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and other representatives from ministries and departments.

In his speech, the State President confirmed that the Party and the State’s granting senior officers Ngo Xuan Lich and Do Ba Ty the title of general demonstrates the Party, the State and people’s deep attention to the VPA and their high appreciation to the two officers’ special contributions to the VPA’s construction, combat and development cause.

Stressing that the newly-promoted officers are the Party, the State and the Army’s eminent staff, and that the officers have achieved many feats of arms and good results in the national salvation, construction and protection cause as well as during international missions, the State President held that under any conditions and at any post, these officers have always been cadres with firm political stance, bright revolutionary virtue, high sense of responsibilities and good abilities who have outstandingly fulfilled all assigned missions.

The State President emphasized that together with pride and great honour, the newly-promoted generals would undergo higher responsibilities. Therefore, he hoped that in the time to come, Generals Ngo Xuan Lich and Do Ba Ty would bring into play their abilities, intelligence and stance to submit recommendations to the Party and the State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence on military and defence missions.

He also reminded both generals to continue to promote the glorious tradition of the heroic VPA, uphold the virtue of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the State, the Fatherland and the people, follow Uncle Ho’s teaching that the general must be clear-sighted, brave, kind, confident, upright, faithful and strive for excellence in completing missions entrusted to them by the Party, the State and people.

On behalf of the promoted generals, General Ngo Xuan Lich thanked the Party, the State and the Army, ministries, departments, local authorities, local people, officers and troops for supporting the people’s armed forces in growth and assisting them in their careers to the point where they have the honour and pride of being promoted.

The general affirmed that alongside honour is responsibility; so both of them will be absolutely loyal to the Party, the State, the Fatherland, people and socialism and whole-heartedly serve the country and people. He also promised to complete further studies, promote professionalism in all aspects; and contribute to the building of a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern army and to the firm protection of the national independence, sovereignty, unification and territorial integrity, as well as the Party, the State, people and socialism. They themselves will actively hone their virtue and be good examples to be deserving of the Party, the State, people and armed forces’ trust.
