Training course held to raise officers’ search and rescue capability
PANO – The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on May 4 kick-started a training course on search and rescue (SAR) for 200 officers from military units and departments in the Northern region, in the presence of its Deputy Chief, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh.
The course aims to raise officers’ staff and command capability to cope with incidents, natural disasters and conduct SAR missions.

During the two-day course, the participants will study documents on how to report an incident, the coordination in conducting search and rescue missions, and instructions to implement the Government’s Decree 30/2017/ND-CP on coping with natural disasters and carrying out search and rescue missions and National Defense Ministry’s circular on fire prevention and control. They will have a chance to experiment performances of skills to cope with chemical, toxic substance, and biological incidents and search and rescue for those in distress.
Addressing the opening ceremony, General Minh praised the search and rescue units’ achievements which have been acknowledged by the Party, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, and people. He said that in the coming time, specialized officers and units in particular and troops in the whole army in general should thoroughly grasp their missions and documents as well as promote studying and training to raise their professionalism and capability to effectively master equipment, so as to augment the efficiency of the work.
He expected that after the course, the trainees will apply acquired knowledge to effectively implementing assigned missions, making contributions to minimizing losses of property and lives caused by natural disasters and accidents.
