The report delivered at the meeting pointed out that over the past time, defense agencies and military units have seriously applied COVID-19 prevention and control measures. The Defense Ministry set up a command post in Ho Chi Minh City to direct the COVID-19 control work. Moreover, the Military Medical Department directed its affiliates to conduct COVID-19 tests using rapid test kits or real-time PCR technology, contributing to identifying and controlling COVID-19 clusters as quickly as possible.
Attentively, the Military Medical University administered the first doses of the homegrown NanoCovax vaccine to 13,000 volunteers and the second doses to 1,000 volunteers in the third trial phase of the vaccine.
In addition, 55 quarantine facilities with 12,500 beds, 68 COVID-19 mobile teams, eight specialized teams, and 51 tracing teams have been set up in Military Region 7.
The Defense Ministry also sent more troops and medical forces to help Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province fight COVID-19.
In his speech, General San asked the entire military to strictly implement the Prime Minister’s directive and the directions of all-level steering committees for COVID-19 prevention and control as well as effectively apply urgent preventive measures.
He requested military regions 5, 7, and 9 and the Hanoi Capital Command to activate COVID-19 prevention and control at the highest level, actively conduct COVID-19 tests for suspected cases of COVID-19 infection, prevent COVID-19 from spreading into military hospitals, and put field hospitals for infectious diseases into operation upon request.
He also urged relevant units to accelerate vaccination programs in the military and safely transport vaccines, as well as prepare personnel and equipment for COVID-19 prevention and control tasks.
