PANO - Over the past several days, thousands of soldiers have been deployed in many areas in the Northern Province of Lang Son to help local people overcome the aftermath of the typhoon Hagupit.
According to the Provincial Committee for Storm and Flood Prevention and Control, flash floods killed more than ten people, submerged 3,562 houses, and flooded hundreds of ha of crops.
Earlier, soldiers from the Provincial Military Command evacuated more than 2,000 households to safe areas.
At present, the Military Command of the province is working with local agencies to provide medicine and essential supplies to typhoon victims.
Army units in other northern provinces, such as Son La, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh and Bac Kan, have also launched various activities to help local people rebuild their lives after the typhoon.
