Speaking at the event, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense, emphasized that under the leadership of the Party and receiving the training from President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has effectively developed over the past 75 years.
Founded on December 22, 1944 with 34 soldiers, VPA successfully conducted two resistance wars against foreign invaders for national salvation and independence and carried out international services. In peacetime, the army has been active in building socialism, integrating into the world, and raising its strength to meet the requirements of national protection in the current period.
At the seminar, delegates affirmed the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, highlighted the VPA’s feats-of-arm, as well as drew lessons for the building of the Vietnamese army in the coming time. They also affirmed the role and contributions of the whole people’s defense to the national construction and defense cause as well as clarified the responsibilities of the Party, army, and whole political system in building a firm whole people’s defense.
Concluding the event, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, Deputy Defense Minister, said that the outcomes of the seminar will contribute to promoting national pride, strengthening confidence and determination of the Party, Army, and people to continue the renewal process, and foil hostile forces’ schemes to distort the history. Thus, they will help build a revolutionary, regular, elite, increasingly modern army and a strong whole people’s defense, contributing to firmly protecting national independence and creating a peaceful and stable environment for economic development.
