Private Lam Tuan Phuc, a soldier of Platoon 2, Company 4, Battalion 21 of Brigade 26, was initially quiet and shy to communicate with his fellow soldiers. After getting to know him better, the unit’s officers learned that Phuc’s family situation was very difficult. His father was involved in an accident and is no longer able to work, while his mother has an unstable job.
Understanding and sympathizing with Phuc’s situation, heads of his squad and platoon encouraged him to overcome difficulties and actively engage in training. They allowed him to call home to check on his family and created favorable conditions for him to participate in the unit’s activities. “The officers, especially First Lieutenant Pham Quang Huy, head of Platoon 2, frequently encourage and help me like a brother in the family. Thanks to that, I feel more at ease while performing my duties,” said Phuc.
During a break-time, Sergeant Ngo Cao Hai Trieu, head of Squad 6 under Platoon 2, Company 4, Battalion 21, took the opportunity to instruct new soldiers on how to fold blankets and neatly organize their personal belongings. Seeing the neatly folded blankets and the orderly system of backpacks and shoes, the young soldiers’ faces lit up with happiness. “New soldiers, especially those who are away from home for the first time, are often confused. As someone who has been here longer, I pay attention to and guide them in the smallest tasks. In the future, as the training intensity is getting higher, I will continue to support and help new soldiers complete their training well,” Sergeant Ngo Cao Hai Trieu said.
Thanks to the assistance from heads of squads and platoons, after a short time in the unit, the new soldiers of Brigade 26 have gradually adapted to the routines, become more confident in communication, and adjusted well to their daily life and training.

Political Commissar of Brigade 26 Senior Colonel Truong Van Lan said that in order to help soldiers quickly integrate, the unit has focused on promoting the exemplary role of the officers, especially heads of platoons and squads, in grasping and effectively carrying out the ‘4 togethers’ (eating together, living together, working together, sharing together). By doing specific tasks, the new soldiers gradually adapt, improve themselves, build trust, and strive to rise up. In addition, the unit actively meets with, monitors, and learns about each new soldier to provide the appropriate support, education, and training.
