PANO - The Scientific Council of the Navy checked and approved software supporting exercises on digital maps on October 8th at Naval Region 4 Command.
The software, designed by the Information Technology Division of the Navy’s Staff, would enable commanders and staff organizations to easily draft combat documents on digital maps in a shorter time and with lower printing cost.

It also allows the projection of the plans and reports on the exercises visually. As a result, the movement of elements on the digital maps and electronic nautical charts would be clearly demonstrated. Moreover, the software allows the transmission and reception of orders via a local network.
The software has been piloted successfully in an exercise conducted this year by a group of units under Naval Region 4 Command.
Commenting on the new product, the Scientific Council of the Navy said that the successful study of this software is very important to help renovate exercise organizing methods, contributing to modernizing the combat staff work, and to promoting commanders’ task performance on digital maps, meeting the demands in building a modern navy in the new period.
The council approved the software and asked the Information Technology Division to further study and improve the software’s features for wide application in the coming time.
