PANO - The Vietnam People's Navy has successfully implemented search and rescue missions at sea, as quoted from its recent report.

Colonel Dong Xuan Diep, Head of the service's Department of Search and Rescue Mission, said that its constituent units had mobilized thousands of participating troops and hundreds of vehicles to join the mission, and safely saved 117 people on islands and DK1 platforms and 104 troubled people at sea (including four Malaysian naval troops). In addition, they fixed and towed 15 vehicles and 6 ships in danger to shore, he added.

The service's units also provided support to help coastal residents move their ships, protect possessions and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
