PANO – The Command of Naval Region 5 on February 10th towed three barges in distress at sea from Tho Chau Island to An Thoi (Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang province). The three barges in distress are from Cuong Huy Phuoc Company in Ho Chi Minh city) were anchoring in Xep Lon Shore when the machines broke down and strong anchors were moved by strong winds and waves.

On board the barges were three crew members.
Earlier, on February 7th, Ship 954 of Flotilla 512, Brigade 127, Naval Region 5, set forth to rescue Barge SG7185, Barge SG7183 and Toan Phuc sand dredger in distress around 25 nautical miles from An Thoi military port.
At 10pm the same day, Ship 954 approached Barge SG7185 and tugged the barge from Tho Chu Island. While towing the barge, Ship 954 found Toan Phuc sand dredger and Barge SG7183 drifting and running the ristk to hit the rocks. Ship 954 then continued towing the barges and dredger in distress safely to Phu Quoc Island.
