National treasure handed over to Naval Museum
PANO – Ship HQ 671, a military cargo vessel serving the Vietnamese People’s Navy during the national resistance war against the U.S. invaders was handed over to the Naval Museum for display on May 4.
The vessel operated on the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea to support the Southern battlefield during Ho Chi Minh Campaign and also undertook other missions. It was recognized as a national treasure under the decision of the Prime Minister issued on December 25, 2017.
Since it was retired from active service, it has served as a receiving ship until being designated as a museum ship this year. Its rock pedestal stands, a 350 sq.m rectangle bloc, was designed by Factory X46 of the Technical Department of the Naval Service.
The vessel is expected to serve visitors to the Naval Museum, contributing to the education of national history and traditions for younger generations.
