According to reports at these meetings, since 2019 , the Dong Thap provincial Military and Border Guard Commands have comprehensively carried out higher levels’ directions and strictly observed combat readiness regulations. They have closely worked with local forces to ensure political security and public order in the areas where they are stationed.
Furthermore, they have kept close watch on developments of the local situations, made proposals to local Party Committees and authorities to settle arising issues in a timely and effective manner, and joined hands in firmly safeguarding national border sovereignty in any circumstances.

Its active-duty force and reserve force have respectively reached more than 100 percent and 99.9 percent of the requirements while its self-defense and militia forces have represented 1.38 percent of the population. It has also effectively promoted defense relations with its Cambodian counterparts and supported the search and repatriation of remains of fallen soldiers.
