Military schools observe Vietnam Book Day
PANO – In response to the fifth Vietnam Book Day (April 21), the People’s Military Publishing House and the Military Political University co-organized an exchange on April 17 in Bac Ninh city.
The event saw the attendance of three guest speakers: Assoc. Prof., Lieutenant General Pham Quoc Trung, Commandant of the Military Political University; former Director of the National Library of Vietnam Pham The Khang; and former Director-General and CEO of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, Dr. Nguyen Sy Hung.
The guest speakers shared stories highlighting the importance of the Vietnam Book Day and the significance of books in life and in the military.
In addition, they underlined the role of the People’s Military Publishing House as a publisher of the Central Military Commission in editing and publishing military and defense documents and books.
On this occasion, the publishing house presented over 100 newly-published books to the Military Political University.
* Earlier, on April 16, the Border Guard Academy opened a book exhibition in celebration of the Vietnam Book Day. In recent years, the academy has regularly encouraged its officials, instructors, learners and cadets to read books. To meet the troops’ reading demand, the academy has constructed a modern library with 1,000 copies of course-books and 90,000 copies of books of various kinds. The library has a common reading room featuring 15,000 copies of self-study and reference books, 17,000 copies of art and culture books; an open reading space with more than 10,000 copies of books on various subjects and a computer room connected to the military network Misten.
