PANO - The General Department of Logistics kicked off a competition for logistics chiefs and and logistics staff at the level of provincial and municipal military commands on September 13.
Present at the event were Deputy Minister of National Defense, Lieutenant General Tran Don, Commander of the General Department of Logistics, Lieutenant General Duong Van Ra, and the General Department's Political Commissar, Lieutenant General Le Van Hoang.

Addressing the opening ceremony, General Don stressed that building provinces and Central-level cities into firm defensive areas is a strategic standpoint of the Party and State, adding that it has become the responsibility of the whole Party, people and army. In addition, he hoped that the competition would exactly evaluate the logistics chiefs' and staff's capabilities and improve professionalism for them and participating units.
He also hoped that logistics officers and units could provide timely advice and map out suitable plans to ensure logistics for training and combat readiness; for regular and unscheduled missions and also for complicated situations, he added. The general urged the organizing board and contestants to fulfill set contents of the competition with absolute safety.
According to the organizing board, all contestants will take part in a K54 shooting event, a multiple choice test, a writing contest for the building of logistics activities for defensive areas in provinces and Central-level cities.
The competition will run till September 17.
