Lai Chau launches defensive area exercise
PANO – Lai Chau province launched a one-side and three-level defensive area exercise on October 19 under the theme of “Shifting armed forces to higher combat readiness postures, shifting localities to the national defense posture, and making preparation for and conducting defensive operations.”
Major General Pham Hong Chuong, Commander of Military Region 2 and head of the region’s steering committee for exercises, attended and delivered an opening speech at the event.
Thoroughly implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defense, the Command of Military Region 2 has issued the directive on the “Organization of exercises in the defensive area of Lai Chau province in 2022.” According to the plan, the exercise in the defensive area of Lai Chau province takes place in 3 stages: Transforming the provincial armed forces into higher combat readiness postures, and turning the locality into defense state; organize defensive combat preparations; conduct defensive warfare.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Pham Hong Chuong highly appreciated the preparations of the provincial Party committees, authorities and the armed forces, particularly for building solid constructions in combat bases and defensive areas of the province. He requested participating forces to overcome difficulties and promote their determination, apply the Party's guidelines to actual missions, and ensure confidentiality of information and absolute safety of personnel and weapons.
After the exercise, relevant forces should promptly supplement and consolidate the system of documents, conduct good management of the built infrastructure system to serve the socio-economic development and the national defense and security reinforcement in the locality.
