The conference reviewed progress after the Art Council’s first meeting in July, where draft models were presented. Based on notes from the embassies of China, Laos, and Cambodia, the museum, in coordination with the Central Fine Arts Joint Stock Company and sculptors Le Dinh Bao and Vu Dai Binh, refined the drafts to align with historical and artistic requirements.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Truong Thien To speaks at the meeting.

Gen. To acknowledged the efforts of the participating agencies and units and underscored that the project is both an honor and an important political task assigned by the Party, State, and Central Military Commission.

He emphasized that the statues must highlight the support of international friends for Vietnam’s past struggle for independence, while reflecting each nation’s cultural identity, historical context, attire, and character expressions in a harmonious artistic form.

He expressed confidence that the statue clusters would be completed on schedule, meeting artistic and technical standards. Together with existing works dedicated to Soviet and Cuban advisors, the new clusters will serve as powerful symbols of international solidarity, commemorating the sacrifices and great contribution of Vietnam’s friends during the struggle for independence, reunification, and national defense.

An overview of the meeting

Vietnam has always valued the wholehearted and loyal support of international friends, particularly those from the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, Laos, and Cambodia, whose dedication and sacrifices provided both material resources and invaluable spiritual encouragement. Vietnam treasures preserving and strengthening these traditional friendships for a world of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
