Great potential for Vietnam’s defense industry cooperation with other countries
PANO - As part of his visit to Malaysia to attend the Defense Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA), Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, met with Héctor Casado Lopez, Deputy Director General for Innovation and Strategy of the Defense Industry under the Ministry of Defense of Spain, and visited several defense industry booths from participating countries, on April 21.

The Vietnamese Deputy Chief of the General Staff emphasized that within the overall framework of Vietnam - Spain relations, defense cooperation is one of the areas receiving strong attention from the senior leaders of both countries and has achieved many positive results in recent years.
He added that Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense highly values and seeks to further promote defense industry cooperation with Spain’s Ministry of Defense. Advancing such cooperation would create an important foundation for agencies and enterprises on both sides to effectively implement future cooperative activities.
Affirming that Vietnam’s defense industry has a lot of strong points and is developing steadily for the purposes of peace and self-defense, Lt. Gen. Le Van Huong proposed that the Spanish side introduce its technological capabilities in research and development of key products. He also suggested that both sides study potential areas and solutions to further enhance cooperation in the coming period.
On this occasion, the head of the Vietnamese delegation respectfully invited Spanish defense enterprises to participate in exhibitions at the Vietnam Defense Expo, scheduled to take place from December 10 to 13, 2026, at Gia Lam Airport.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is a trusted partner of Spain, including in the field of defense, and that defense industry cooperation remains an area to be further deepened, Héctor Casado Lopez expressed his hope that both sides would strengthen exchanges and jointly explore areas where each side possesses strengths and demands. He also welcomed opportunities to share organizational experience and participate in showcasing products at future international defense exhibitions hosted by both countries.

On the same day, General Huong visited several defense industry booths from Malaysia, Italy, and the Republic of Korea, promoting exchanges and exploring cooperation opportunities suited to each side’s capabilities, while further strengthening Vietnam’s defense industry cooperation with partner countries in the future.
