Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet addresses the event. |
General Quyet held that 80 years ago, under the directive of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Dissemination and Liberation Armed Team - the forerunner of the VPA, was established. On the first days of its foundation, the team was composed of only 34 soldiers, including four Party members. At this time, the team had a party cell and a board for political affairs, marking the birth of an organ in charge of political affairs in the military. It showed the immediate Party leadership over the military. Thus, the VPA’s foundation day is also the traditional day of the GDP.
During the national resistance wars against foreign invaders and the national construction and protection cause, the GDP has upheld its traditions; focused on making strategic recommendations to the Politburo and the Secretariat the Party Central Committee; strengthened the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party over the VPA; and contributed to building a politically-strong military, serving as a foundation to build a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military to firmly protect the Fatherland in the current context.

At the same time, he hoped that they would be examples for troops of the GDP and the military to follow.
