GDLT’s Political Commissar Lieutenant General Do Van Thien chaired the event. At the conference, functional agencies announced the Ministry of National Defense’s decisions to dispatch five officers and 10 non-commissioned officers from the GDLT to L2FH Rotation 8 and Engineering Company Rotation 5.

As scheduled, they will undergo six months of training to hone their professional expertise, foreign language proficiency, and international working skills before undertaking a one-year tenure of duty at the U.N. mission.

During the event, Lieutenant General Do Van Thien encouraged the officers and addressed their concerns to consolidate their determination. A representative of the peacekeepers expressed their pride in undertaking the mission and affirmed their determination to train hard to fulfill all assigned tasks.

Delivering a speech at the conference, Lieutenant General Do Van Thien emphasized that participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations is a crucial political task that reflects the responsibility and prestige of the Vietnam People’s Army in international integration. He requested the selected personnel to uphold solidarity, pro-actively improve their professional skills, and adapt to the working environment. He also urged party committees and commanders of relevant units to take good care of the troops’ families and ensure all prescribed policies and standards are met.

The political commissar expressed his belief that, with thorough preparation and a high sense of responsibility, the personnel at the field hospital and the engineering unit would excellently complete their tasks, contributing to promoting the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and elevating the international standing of the Vietnam People’s Army.
