Former State President Luong Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense General Nguyen Tan Cuong attended the event.
On May 1, 1951, at Binh Trung commune, Cao Loc district, Lang Son province (now Khanh Khe commune, Lang Son province), Division 316 was established. Over the past 75 years of combat and development, Division 316 has built and nurtured its tradition of “Loyalty, Self-reliance, Solidarity, Resilience, Creativity, and Victory.” In recognition of its outstanding accomplishments during the renewal period, on December 24, 2025, the Party and the State conferred upon the Division the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” for the second time.

Addressing the ceremony, General Nguyen Tan Cuong highly praised and congratulated the generations of officers and soldiers of Division 316 on their outstanding achievements and important contributions.
To successfully fulfill assigned tasks in the time ahead, the defense leader asked the division’s Party Committee, Chain-of-Command, officers and soldiers to strictly embrace and implement the Party’s viewpoints, guidelines, and policies, the State’s laws on military and defense affairs, with emphasis on new thinking and awareness regarding national defense and Fatherland protection according to the Resolutions of the 14th National Party Congress, the 12th Military Party Congress, and the 10th Congress of the Military Region 2’s Party Organization.
He also underlined the effective implementation of the “two consistencies, two accelerations, and two preventions” and “five strengths” motto. Priority should be given to building a strong Party Organization in terms of politics, ideology, organization, ethics, and personnel, while developing a contingent of cadres and Party members with firm political stance, strong competence, high responsibility, and capacity to meet mission requirements in the new situation.
Gen. Cuong also urged the unit to improve training quality and combat readiness, continue renewing training content, enhance independent combat capability and joint operations, and closely combine military training with physical fitness, courage, and discipline building for troops. It should also actively support local people in socio-economic development, new-style rural area building, disaster prevention and recovery, search and rescue operations, and strengthen civil-military bond and international solidarity.

Division 316 is honored with the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title for the second time. |
He expressed confidence that Division 316 would achieve greater accomplishments, excellently fulfill all assignments, and contribute to military building, national defense consolidation, and firm Fatherland protection.
At the ceremony, authorized by the State President, General Nguyen Tan Cuong presented the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces to Division 316.
