Over the past years, Flotilla 2 has well performed the mission, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and security over sea border.

The unit’s troops have actively responded to natural disasters and conducted search and rescue operations at sea, disseminated laws, prevented illegal activities and cross-border crimes, managed ships in designated area, mobilized fishermen to strictly observe regulations while fishing at sea. They have also provided support for and accompanied fishermen to help them feel secure to fish at sea and develop economy.

Speaking at the working session, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son lauded troops of Flotilla 2 for their obtained achievements over the past years. He asked the unit to continue bringing into play positive results, making recommendation to higher levels to issue measures and policies on border management, strictly observing combat readiness regulations; closely following situational development; cooperating with other forces to patrol and manage border areas; and fostering the combat against crime and illegal border crossings.

In addition, the unit should promote cooperation and exchange information related to national border protection and management with Chinese border guard force; promptly deal with arising issues in border areas; foster dissemination and mobilize locals to strictly observe laws and local regulations and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

He said that these activities would contribute to raising the effectiveness of external relations and the development of the province where it is stationed and the nation.
