Exhibition held in tribute to late General Van Tien Dung
PANO – The Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Preservation Center on April 28 kicked off an exhibition on late General Van Tien Dung's life and career to mark his 105th birth anniversary and the 47th anniversary of national reunification.
Under the theme “General Van Tien Dung – The Famous General of the Ho Chi Minh Era,” the exhibition aims to pay tribute to the late general, who made outstanding contribution to the national liberation cause.

The exhibition introduces 150 items and photos which are divided into three themes, namely “An eminent son of Hanoi,” “A Famous General of the Ho Chi Minh Era,” and “Remembering the General,” highlighting the role and contribution of the former Chief of the General Staff to South liberation and national reunification.
General Van Tien Dung was born in Co Nhue commune, Tu Liem district, Hanoi, in 1917. He joined the revolutionary movement at early age. In 1953, Van Tien Dung was assigned to undertaking the duty as Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and held the position for 25 years.
In the resistance war against U.S. invaders, under the leadership of the Party and Politburo, Chief of the General Staff Van Tien Dung was always present on battlefields and directly commanded many key battles, including Road 9 – South Laos Campaign, Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) Campaign, and especially Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the South liberation and national reunification.
