Speaking at the event, former chief of the GDP General Luong Cuong affirmed that over the past years, to meet the higher task requirements, the GDP has enhanced the direction and leadership over task implementation, contributing to consolidating the Party’s ideological realm in the military and building the military which is strong in politics and absolutely loyal to the Party, Fatherland, and people.

On this occasion, Gen. Cuong congratulated Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet on being appointed to the new chief of the GDP. With rich knowledge and rich practical experience, the former chief hoped that his successor, together with the general department’s leadership, would lead and direct the GDP to successfully complete all assigned missions. He believed that officers, soldiers, staff, and defense workers in general department would continue to stay united and strive to fulfill all missions in 2024 and the upcoming years.

Addressing the duty hand-over ceremony, the new chief of the GDP evaluated that over the past time, under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, directly the GDP with Gen. Cuong as its chief, the party and political work in the military has been effectively carried out, contributing to building a politically-strong military, raising the synergy and the combat power of the military, and lifting the GDP’s position and prestige.

Gen. Quyet said that being chief of the GDP is an honor, but a great responsibility. Understanding that the upcoming task requirement would be higher, the GDP's chief pledged that in new position, he and the GDP’s leadership would stay united and exert more efforts to build comprehensive strong general department and enhance the effectiveness of party and political work in the military, deserving the trust of the Party, State, and the Central Military Commission.
