State President To Lam hands over the decision on the appointment of Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet as Director of the General Department of Politics. 

Addressing the ceremony, President To Lam stated that Sr. Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet is an outstanding officer of the Party, State and military. In any position, he has always shown a steadfast political stance, bright revolutionary ethics, and a full sense of responsibility to fulfill all assigned tasks.

The State President affirmed that the appointment decision was a great honor to Gen. Quyet and demonstrated the trust of the Party, State and people in the new GDP director and the recognition of his contribution and dedication to the Party and political work in the military over the past years.

Pointing out difficulties and challenges in both the world and domestic situations, the State leader underlined that the task of national development and defense is becoming tougher, requiring the VPA in particular and the armed forces in general to stay united in terms of thoughts and action; constantly raise the overall quality and combat strength, deserving to be the loyal and reliable political and fighting force of the Party, State and people.

The President requested Sr. Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet to continue to uphold the glorious traditions of the GDP and VPA; maintain revolutionary ethics and be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; wholeheartedly serve the country and the people; study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle; and set a bright example and successfully accomplish all assignments, contributing to the cause of national construction and defense in the new situation.

The new GDP Director, together with other comrades in the Central Military Commission and the GDP, should closely follow the situations to make proposals to the Party and State on implementing military and defense tasks following the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution and the Resolution of the 11th Military Party Congress, contributing to building a stronger whole people defense and security posture and building the VPA into a revolutionary, regular, elite, gradually modern military.

Meanwhile, Gen. Quyet and GDP leaders should pay more attention to building healthy and strong Party committees and organizations, and the People's Army forces associated with the building of a comprehensively-strong, “typical and exemplary” unit. It is also crucial to attach significance to education and training for officers and soldiers in the whole military, President To Lam added.

Concluding his remarks, the State President expressed his belief that the new GDP Director would successfully accomplish all assigned missions.

For his part, Sr. Lt. Gen. Trinh Van Quyet expressed his honor to receive the appointment and affirmed that this was not only an honor, but also a responsibility that the Party, State, military and people entrust.

The new GDP director promised that he would thoroughly grasp the President’s direction; be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people; and closely work with the Central Military Commission, leaders of the MND and GDP to pro-actively study and advise the PCC, State and Government to direct the implementation of military and defense tasks, contributing to successfully completing the task of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland in the new situation.

He also promised to continue to cultivate, train, and maintain revolutionary ethics and prestige and honor of a Party member and officer; actively study and follow Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and lifestyle; and stay ready to receive and fulfill all tasks assigned by the Party, State, military, and people.

He hoped that the GDP would continue to receive attention and favorable conditions from leaders of the Party and State and coordination from ministries, sectors and agencies and support from the people to better perform tasks in the time to come.
