PANO – The Medical Department of the Ministry of National Defence on December 11th debuted a DNA testing center to serve the identification of martyrs’ remains. Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Defence Minister, attended the opening ceremony.
At the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa, the Director of the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine, briefed the participants on the establishment of the center which was formed under the instruction of the National Defence Ministry’s head to realize Project 150, approved by the Prime Minister on identifying information about fallen soldiers.

With modern technology, advanced equipment and professional staff, the center aims to identify around 4,000 samples per year.
Addressing the ceremony, general Cung stressed that the determination of the identities of martyrs’ remains is an important and meaningful task, showing the Party, Army, and people’s deep gratitude to the great contributions of those who sacrificed their lives for the national independence.
To promote the effectiveness of the work, the deputy defence minister asked the Military Medical Department and the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine to grasp the meaning and importance of the work, raise their staff’s professionalism to carry out the mission, and continue upgrading their equipment to identify the newly-found remains of martyrs.
