At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the glorious 60-year traditions of Division 9. Promoting its tradition as a unit twice awarded the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces, Division 9 has consistently excelled in training and combat readiness, and building a comprehensively strong, exemplary and typical unit.

On behalf of the State President, Gen. Luong handed over the Order and commended the unit’s outstanding feats-of-arms and accomplishments over the past six decades.
The defense leader urged Division 9 to continue embracing higher-level policies, strengthening emulation movements, improving effectiveness of training, combat readiness observance, logistics and technical services, among others.
* The same day, Phu Tho province held a ceremony in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the province’s armed forces and received the First-class Fatherland Protection Order in the presence of Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Hong Thai.
Founded on August 30, 1945, when local units merged into Tran Quoc Toan Liberation Team, the Phu Tho provincial armed forces have upheld the proud tradition of “Loyalty - Bravery - Victory” in resistance wars, national defense cause, and performing international duties. Over 80 years, they have been honored with numerous orders, including the Gold Star Order and the Ho Chi Minh Order.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Gen. Thai congratulated the forces on their attainments, emphasizing the need to firmly implement the Party and State’s policies, maintain close coordination with other forces to grasp situational developments and make accurate forecasts, and pro-actively advise local authorities on defense and security tasks.
Gen. Thai called for building a revolutionary, standardized, elite, and modernized force with strong reserves and militia, ensuring high combat readiness, and contributing to political stability and socio-economic development in the province.
